Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then found many other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for details.
An important political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
